Médenine-Tourism: President of regional federation of travel agencies denies cancellations of reservations or departures
The president of the regional federation of travel agencies in Medenine, Hamda Abdellaoui, denied any cancellation of reservation or departure of tourists before the end of their stay in Djerba.
"The situation is quite normal and tourists are continuing their holidays at a usual pace without any fallout from the aggression against two security agents in the tourist area of Djerba," he told TAP on Friday.
He said reservations are intact and air flights continue without vacancies, highlighting the efficiency of the security system, while calling for vigilance.
Abdellaoui also called for the need to clean up the sector against "intruders" in the perimeter of hotels, beaches and souks, while raising awareness of the citizen and all stakeholders in tourism to the overall security system.
TAP correspondent noted that the situation is quite normal in the island of Djerba, on the beaches, in the city centre and in the souks that teem with tourists despite the heat.
One of the hotel managers in Djerba also pointed out that the flow of tourists is normal and has not recorded precipitous departures. "Tourists continue to enjoy the sea and the sun without any fear," he said, adding that the Thursday incident "confirmed the preparation of security forces to deal with any incident, a critical response in a world where the phenomenon of terrorism is growing ".
The knife attack against two security guards perpetrated by an individual during a monitoring operation on Thursday was classified as a criminal offense unrelated to terrorism, but the perpetrator was referred to the judicial investigation pole in terrorist cases in Tunis for further investigation.
